The Nintendo 64 or N64 is the first console I ever played, and with some of the games being added to the Nintendo Switch Online, it is a great time to revisit the console. However, the service is missing several great games. Here is the list of the ten games that should be added soon.
Mario Party 2
Mario Party 2 is one of the best games in the series. It is a great game to play by yourself, as well as your group of friends. However, why this game is a great contender for NSO is because of online play. It would be a great time to play some Mario Party 2 with friends around the world.
Mario Party 2 is casual enough to play with friends while you kickback. Despite this, the game is competitive enough to want to play it with strangers you met in Discord. A problem would be the Mario Party Superstar game which features minigames from this game.
Banjo-Tooie
Banjo Kazooie is one of the best games made by Rare, and the is one of the best games on the system as well. This game is already going to be playable on NSO soon which is very exciting. However, this makes the sequel an obvious choice
A great game that some people love more than the original. I loved playing Banjo-tooie, and would recommend it to anyone who loved the first. Despite this, the problem with this game getting on the platform is that it is owned by Microsoft. However, with Banjo-Kazooie being in Smash the relationship might be pretty good.
Pokemon Stadium
This was the first pokemon game I ever played. I actually didn’t know that Pokemon was a video game series before, and only thought it was an anime and TCG. While I have played plenty of other pokemon games afterward this game has a special place for me.
The game is simple and is a great time to play. I adore the game, and recommend it to anyone who loves pokemon. It is an interesting time capsule of the early days of Pokemon.
Pokemon Snap
This is one of the more surprising games not on the NSO. New Pokemon Snap was released last year, and I think it would be a great promotion to make the original easily accessible. The original game is very short and simple compared to the new release, but it is still worth playing.
Pokemon Snap is a great game for the system and can be played to completion in a day. Pokemon Snap has a special place in the grand scheme of the series, and adding a new avenue to play the game would be great.
Doom 64
Doom has had a huge resurgence in recent years with the success of the revival series. However, I think fans would love to go back and play some of the older series. Doom 64 seems like a great point for older fans to get introduced.
Super Smash Bros
Super Smash Bros Ultimate released the last DLC character in 2021, so the development of the series is finally wrapped up. However, this means it is the perfect time to introduce the fans to the original game in the series. The old game is unique and is still incredibly fun.
The Smash community loves the older games in the series, so giving them a new avenue to play would be very popular. However, Nintendo has been very hostile to fans of the Smash series who like the older games.
Donkey Kong 64
Donkey Kong 64 was on the Wii U eshop, and is one of the most underrated collect-a-thon games on the 64. The unique spin of the series is that you can switch between multiple members of the Donkey Kong crew. Also, we would get to watch the Donkey Kong Rap on the go.
Despite all of the fun things about the game, it has a reputation of being very difficult. However, I love a good game that offers a challenge. I would say some of the parts of the game go beyond a good challenge into broken but I digress.
Pilotwings 64
Pilotwings 64 is one of the few games I had when I was younger on the Nintendo 64. The original is available on the NSO as a part of the SNES collection. However, the game is different enough that it feels like a different series.
It is a very unique and under-the-radar game on the system, and I want more people to play the game. The problem is that this is a game that no one besides me is begging for.
Harvest Moon 64
The price of Harvest Moon 64 skyrocketed over the last couple of years. Farming simulators are big with the explosion of Stardew Valley since its release. However, I think players would be interested in playing the game that inspired the series.
Harvest Moon 64 is not a Nintendo game, so the chances are not high. Despite this, other non-Nintendo games have already been added to NSO including the Sega Genesis as a whole/
Wave Race 64
Wave Race 64 is a great game that I think a lot of people have forgotten about throughout the years. Racing games are almost made for online play, so this is an obvious game to include. This is a unique racing game as instead of cars you use a water scooter.
